Hash Narrative:
Many people were attracted to the run by the promise from the hares that 80% of the trail was going to be in shade. When you’ve ran the hash as long as I have you know that this is going to be fake news and as it turned out as this is exactly what it was and the hares were suitably punished for their lie back at the the circle.
The GM was on holiday so after the usual group photo by Hash Flash ,Up Yer Bum, the stand in GM Stiffanny unleashed the pack and we were on our way. The run had a certain musical theme about it highlighted by the solo performance by an Elvis look alike performing in one of the bars we gatecrashed on the beach.
The run commenced on tarmac with usual front running bastards Just say when and Bloody Pinoccio leading the rest of the pack so I guess we “Were on the Road Again” ( Canned Heat; Appropriately named for the sort of day it was, Bloody scorching. After a while we crossed the footbridge over the motorway and those damned hares wanted us to throw ourselves off it as they had written the word “Jump” Van Halen. Soon we were running through a field that led us onto the boardwalk. “ Under the Boardwalk “ Drifters.
There was a check on the boardwalk which caused a certain amount of confusion but good for the pack as it allowed us to catch up with those two FRB’s. After the check was broken it was “On the Beach” Chris Rea then through the bar to briefly watch a free performance of Elvis singing “ In the Ghetto”. This apparently was the song that resurrected the real Elvis career for all those live performances in Los Vegas. There was a bit of confusion following this as we couldn’t find the trail but after a while on on was called and we were headed along the beach and on to the first beer stop. I was with Dogs Bollox at this time and we came across a vintage VW Beetle which he said he had once owned a similar one so I took a photo of him in front of it “Chasing Cars” Snow Patrol.
After the beer stop we were headed home “Run For Home” Lindisfarn but we had another beer stop first which was welcomed by all due to the intense heat which was very stifling. In my humble opinion the best part of the run followed as we actually ran on more traditional hash ground.
There was a lot of horse shit around and it would have been more appropriate if it had been bullshit referring to the hares untruth about the shaded run. Anyway we were soon back at the circle where quite a few people received down downs including the scribe who missed his flight back from Germany because he went to the wrong airport “ Im not leaving on a jet plane” Chicken George. Ian Giles for wearing new shoes and the hares suitably punished on the ice for their crime for saying the run was 80% in the shade.
Following the run we all went off to the On On for food, more beers and wine.
The run was voted a good run with marks of 8.9.
CG July 2020.
Not mentioned but much appreciated was the hares consideration in routing the trail past 4, yes 4, cooling fresh water showers. Ed
