Hash Narrative:

This week Mijas H3 virtual hash moved to Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. Arguably the most beautiful town in England and winner of multiple Britain in Bloom awards.

Our hares, Suxit and Inside Her did Cheltenham proud with an 11km virtual run showcasing the many fine features of this historic town.

From Casa Suxit our trail led to Cheltenham Spa railway station. Sadly the only surviving mainline station in Cheltenham. From there we went down onto what was once a railway but is now an urban pathway leading around the western edge of Cheltenham towards the world famous Cheltenham Racecourse.

There followed a brief beer stop at the racecourse before we headed down Evesham Road and on into West Approach Drive and Pittville Park with it’s iconic Pittville Pumproom. Proceeding through this beautiful park we crossed Pittville Lake where it was once possible to ice skate in the winter during colder years.

Exiting the park via imposing Pittville Gates we entered the visual feast that is Cheltenham town centre. One of the first shopping towns in England to pedestrianise and now a leading shopping destination. Pausing by more recent statues in the tree lined Promenade we continued past grand municipal buildings to the town’s featured fountains, inspired by the Trevi fountain in Rome.

Passing Imperial Gardens we arrived at the Queens Hotel. This lovely and historic hotel, named for Queen Victoria, is now under French ownership and underwent a major renovation in 2015. Moving up a gentle hill away from the town centre we passed through Montpellier, a vibrant area featuring many shops and restaurants, and on to another featured building, Montpellier Rotunda. Once a spa pumproom, then a bank and now a restaurant.

Our tour complete we returned to casa Suxit. Many thanks to our hares for sharing their home town.
