Mijas HHH Advice for Hares

Important ingredients.
1. Somewhere to run. New locations always welcome.
2. Beer (Quality Spanish Brands only. EG Cruzcampo, Victoria, Alhambra, Mahou, Estrella Galicia)
3. Enough ice especially in summer.
4. Crisps (including plain) and snacks. Sufficient for around 35 people.
5. Venue for an ON-ON negotiated previously
6. Hashers.
7. Down-Down beer - Use big bottles or ensure additional cans of beer are available. No single
8. 10-12 bags of flour to set a normal run. Some chalk may be needed. Paper is to be avoided if possible.
9. Put out HHH signs at least 30 mins prior to run & collect them afterwards.

Points to remember.
It gets dark earlier in Winter.
Also colder & possibly wet.
Ensure on-on venue is open before hashers arrive.
Down Down cups (please avoid single use plastic) and bin bags. Always have a beer stop.
Always have sufficient beer. (The Hash never runs out).
Announce run directions the week before & let web-master know, in writing to 5ksmh3@gmail.com
If you cannot set your assigned run it is YOUR responsibility to swap with another hare & inform Haremistress (Aquasex/Pussy Galore) well in advance.
If you have any problems call a committee member. That way you will be told to piss off diplomatically.
Unless you are an experienced hare set the run with some-one else. At least then you can share the blame with them.
Recce the run until you are sure it is perfect.
Ensure beer-stop is around halfway round. The Hash is not a race! The idea of the Hash is to keep slow and fast runners together so that they finish at the same time. This is done by using checks, this slows the fast runners down and allows the slower runners to catch up. Ideally you should have at least 10 checks in a Hash to keep the pack together.

Beer and Cooler Boxes.
When buying for the hash, keep the receipts and Hash Cash will reimburse you on the day.

On collection of boxes, clean and dry …

Minimum stock.

count what items you have and calculate how many more you will need to buy.

70 – beers (not San Miguel)

12 – bottles beer

10 – bottles cava (max 3 euro/bottle)

Greater quantities will be required in Summer than in Winter

Any cakes, oranges etc. that you buy, you pay for yourself

IF YOU CAN PLEASE USE CASH FRESH SUPERMARKET AS ITS IS CHEAPRER THAN MOST AND YOU CAN GET EVERYTHING THERE. pin Drop CASH FRESH

Directions and Information
To prepare for the run you will need HHH direction signs and location co-ordinates (Google) for the webmaster. Don’t forget to collect HHH signs.

Directios, with pin to be put on web asap (send to 5ksmh3@gmail.com)

ON DAY

HHH signs to put out to direct to circle

Summer buy 5 bag of ICE, in Winter 3, put on drinks in boxes

large box for beer – second for softies - third for cava

On On – try to make a deal with the restaurant for a reduced price

eg for a limited menu - 1 meat 1 fish 1 veggie

Currently many hares are doing “pay as you go”

In restaurant, don’t forget to collect money from the hashers to pay for the meal.

The On On Restaurant

On On – try to make a deal with the restaurant for a reduced price

eg for a limited menu - 1 meat 1 fish 1 veggie

Currently many hares are doing “pay as you go”

The restaurant should be selected for good food and good value for money. The menu of the day should cost 10-15 Euros, normally including 2/3 courses & half bottle of wine. Try to insist on good wine as some of them serve crap. New cuisines always welcome.

Home On On
Meals supplied at home by the hares are normally exceptionally good & are to be encouraged.

Special Runs
If you feel like doing a special run & need to buy something extra (birthday, anniversary or whatever) please ask the committee first as we are always keen to help.

If you are unsure or need assistance do not hesitate to ask the committee.

Mijas H3 Run Markings:

Mijas H3 run on standard hash markings as used in Asia, we keep it simple, and avoid trying to outdo the Egyptians with obscure hieroglyphic markings!!

The trail is set on BLOBBS of flour or a “BLOBBER” (with directional arrows) the spacing of the flour should not be far apart.

On the trail you may come across a “CHECK” this is marked as a  cross in flour (A good run should have a least 12 checks), the trail will then stop, and recommence approximately 100 metres from the check, the trail will be within 360 deg of the check. Note; if you have broken the check, and found the correct trail please rub out the incorrect trails on the check. Checks should keep the pack together, please wait if the pack gets spaced out, or ensure the back runners know the direction of the true trail before running on. Check standing is a sin and the RA will deal with offenders in the circle.

You may come across a “SPLIT TRAIL” with arrow’s pointing in two or even three ↔︎ ways one will be the right trail, if you come to a “F” in flour you have been affectionately known as a “you have been fucked” go back and look for the true trail.

All “FALSE TRAILS” will be marked with an “F” in flour, when you come to a “F” in lour go back along the trail (Sorry I missed the F in flour).

You may come to a BC in flour on the trail, this is a “Back Check” you will need to go back down the trail and find the right trail, it is usually easy to find, look for obvious trails, we don’t use numbers (Hashers can`t count), if hares use numbers it is an “Ice-able” offence!

A single flour arrow ➔ will indicate you are on the correct trail and going in the right direction, sometime used over areas where trail marking is difficult to see.

When you come to a “BS” that means you are approaching the beer stop!!! Please rehydrate with the amber nectar supplied.

“ON IN” in flour, means you have completed the run, and heading in to Beer.

Well done !!!!

Important: Please keep shouting ON ON when you are on the trail to keep the slow bastards with you. If you are not on flour you are not on the run! Always go back to find flour, if you get lost stay on trial (Preferably wait at a check) somebody will come and find you. Enjoy.

Tips for Hares - Virtual Runs - Video

Watch for wind and background noise. If it is windy protect your microphone with something

  • Always speak reasonably close to the microphone.

  • Don’t use copyrighted material as background. YouTube will block your video when we add it for run reports.

  • Please film in Landscape, not Portrait, if using your phone.

  • Start your voiceover a few seconds into each clip stop your voiceover a few seconds before the end of each clip.

  • Labour the beer stop and hold it all still for at least 10 sec.

  • Filming in short clips is fine and easier. Clips can be stitched together if necessary.

  • Sending large files can be problematic. 6 x 5min clips are easy to send. Rather than 1 x 30 min clip,

  • Please number the clips 1 of 5, 2 of 5 and so on.

  • Thirty min run time works well.

  • Plan your run and test everything before the day.

  • Write down your run plan.

  • Video resolution can be in 1080p or 720p

  • Clips can be sent via iCloud, OneDrive or Dropbox or What’s App. Whatever suits.
